I'm Still Alive

Hey, How's it going! I'm still kicking. As far as my food intake i'm keeping my carbs low, doing a decent job on that. 60 to 70 carbs per meal and i eat at max 3 meals. Usually eat oat meal, cream of wheat or some kind if cereal in the morning. My mornings are different from most people. I'm in bed by 8 or 9 pm back up 3 hours later, then stay up till at least between 4am and 6am. I won't sleep more than a few hours after that. I get around 7 hours sleep everyday, just mixed up through out the day. Welcome to retirement, lol.

One thing has changed being a diabetic. My nerve endings act up once in a while. I get quick sharp pains, it jumps around actually never noticed where mostly in the feet, legs or hands. Probably from eating to many cookies. I eat at least 3 a day and put sugar on my cereal, oatmeal or cream of wheat anyway. I never use sugar for anything else. Once in a while i'll eat a candy bar, like a few times a month.

Still 30 to 40 pounds under weight looking like a POW skinny person. I don;t like that, was always in some kind of decent shape. I'm thinking on getting back to an exercise program that i will build myself. I'm sure i can gain some kind of weight. Until next time i will let you know if i gained any, later.

Close to the end

Close To The End

Close to the end is where i thought i was, ended up going to the hospital. It all started i'm guessing 10 or 11 years ago when i was having dizzy spells where i would feel like someone turned off the switch and i was going down or i had accelerated heart beats that would last for less than a minute then go away for a month or so.

I did have an issue one time at work one time where my heart was beating like crazy and wouldn't slow down, pretty much scared the hell out of me. My boss called an ambulance and off to the hospital i went. By the time i got there everything was back to normal. They ran their test and said we can't find anything wrong with you. I didn't worry about it, just kept doing whatever.

I figured maybe i had to much coffee or maybe i didn't drink enough water that day, there was always some excuse to not admitting there was an issue.

Your probably thinking right now why the hell don't he just go the doctors?

I don't like doctors and didn't want to be on some kind of meds. To me that's scary stuff. They put you on meds to help and it creates 5 other problems. There was no way i was going to a doctor.

Anyway, around 9 months ago, matter of fact it was New Years Eve. My heart starting beating fast again, i mean really fast. I went and laid down figuring it would go away like it usually did but it didn't. After like an hour i was really concerned. I called my daughter, come get me and take me to the hospital. My chest was hurting big time. I thought this was it, it was the end.

My heart rate was 188 beats per minute. The first thing he asked was "what kind of drugs are you taking" i laughed and said i don't do drugs. They injected me with something and everything was back to normal in a few seconds. He told me if this went on any longer your heart would have exploded.

After a blood test, that was 477. I never knew what was normal. They said i had diabetes. I was like wow no one in my family ever had diabetes that i knew of. Two months later my younger brother went for a DOT check up (its required for trailer drivers) and he had diabetes, not as bad as me but it was enough to suspend his CDL license. He couldn't drive for like 6 months.

What put me over the edge was the 6 to 8 cupcakes i was eating damn near every day for a few months. I'm skinny, never thought i was a problem. I thought only heavy people got diabetes. Duh, i was wrong! Again, lol

My food habits have changed, i try to eat between 60 to 70 grams of carbs each meal. I check labels now which i never ever did in my life. Everything is pretty good. I haven't had any issues like i was before and i never went to the doctors. I just read up on diabetes and did whatever my brothers doctor told him what to do, minus the meds they had him on. That's another thing about doctors, they had him on so many meds that he started feeling bad again, found out his blood sugar was to low, lol.

Hope this helps some people that are having the same symptoms as me, ahhh don't make the same mistakes, change your diet!
